چکیده

Abstract We derive rigorously the leading order of correlation energy a Fermi gas in scaling regime high density and weak interaction. The result verifies prediction random-phase approximation. Our proof refines method collective bosonization three dimensions. approximately diagonalize an effective Hamiltonian describing bosonic excitations around Hartree–Fock state, while showing that gapless non-collective have only negligible effect on ground state energy.

and defines the spectrum. The value of vF is altered by interactions. The familiar spectrum leads to the usual temperature dependences at low temperature, e.g. specific heat C ∝ T , susceptibility χ independent of temperature. Furthermore, since there is no qualitative change of behavior, unlike for the Boson case (where the canonical transformation was necessary) quantitative results can be ca...

Weakly Interacting Bose Gas

We will look at the weakly interacting system at low temperatures. Already, without interactions, we have Bose condensation 〈 b+ 0 b0 〉 = N0 = N. (2) Interactions will reduce this, but if they are weak the depletion of the condensate will be a small fraction (N −N0)/N 1, or ∑ E k ′ 〈 bE k bE k 〉 N, (3) with ∑′ denoting the sum over all E k 6= 0. With the macroscopic occupation of the zero mode ...

Interacting Fermi gas in a harmonic trap

In view of ongoing experiments to trap ultracold spin-polarized Li, we study various properties of an interacting Fermi gas in a harmonic trap taking the discrete nature of the unperturbed harmonic trap levels into account exactly. As Li has a rather large and negative scattering length, we focus on the e ects of the attractive atom-atom interaction on several thermodynamic properties and on th...

Fermi Edge Singularities and Backscattering in a Weakly Interacting 1D Electron Gas

The photon-absorption edge in a weakly interacting one-dimensional electron gas is studied, treating backscattering of conduction electrons from the core hole exactly. Close to threshold, there is a power-law singularity in the absorption, I(ǫ) ∝ ǫ−α, with α = 3/8 + δ+/π − δ2 +/2π where δ+ is the forward scattering phase shift of the core hole. In contrast to previous theories, α is finite (and...

Two-dimensional weakly interacting Fermi gas in a magnetic field: Level splitting

We apply the diagram-technique formalism beyond the Hartree-Fock approximation to a two-dimensional nearly ideal electron gas in a weak perpendicular magnetic field. The case of an almost completely filled upper Landau level (filling factor ν0 ∼ 1) with a quantum number N0 ≫ 1 is considered. We uncover two regimes of renormalization by electron-electron interactions. In the first regime, where ...
